I wasn’t actually going to reveal this to you but…
This person just warned me about writing effective email subject lines..
Here’s why I’m able to get 40% open rates & you still have to text your readers when you send out an email.
OK SO.
This post is about how to write effective subject lines that get OPENED.
All of the lines above are great examples of creating compelling subject lines..
Now we have touched a lot on this in my book ‘Lethal Copywriting Secrets’
But I thought I would elaborate and really help you guys flesh out this topic so you can implement it in your own list.
So what is the key to a great subject line?
Intrigue.
Humans are suckers for curiosity.
The more you can make someone curious, the more power you have over them.
So when creating an epic subject line, use shocking words like DO YOU or I JUST DID or HOW TO.
Here are some more examples of some lethal subject lines:
We’ve beaten X with Y
You’ll never guess how we did X
Are you falling for the X trap?
Give your X some Y
These are just some of the lines that I use quite often.
Starting a subject line with a lowercase also works quite well - this post for example!
This conveys that the email was sent personally, like out of the blue kind of.
Very personalized.
ChatGPT:
While AI will never replace a human’s personality, it can make us better.
How?
Use ChatGPT to prompt new subject line ideas and innovate them with your own tone of voice.
Use this prompt:
‘Can you generate me 5 new email subject lines for x product’
Then take those results and prompt with:
‘Can you make these more dramatic, interesting, catchy, exciting’
Take what it spits out and add your tone of voice - and you’re set.
If you implement this one simple tactic into your posts or email marketing…
Your open rates will skyrocket.
Which means your sales will skyrocket.
Leave a comment and let me know how you go with these simple tips.
Cheers,
Mike.
