[Inspiration Guide] So we both have no idea what to write, help?
Let’s face it, we sit down at our computer or whip out our phones to write up a new, weird, wacky post.
You're all excited and hyped up on caffeine and then…
Nothing.
Zilch.
Nada.
So what do you do?
Well in this post I am going to explain how I find inspiration for my writing topics.
I know I know, giving away the secrets already Mike?
Yup.
I’m the Colonel and this is the seven secret spices to my famous chicken.
Mmm, chicken.
Ok FOCUS.
So when I sit down to write an email, Facebook post or basically anything…
(We’ll use email in this example, but it works with anything.)
The first thing I do is choose from the following four types of email:
- News
- Educational/Nurturing
- Feedback
- Sales
This email is an ‘Educational’ email, for example.
This is designed to teach you something about how to write efficiently.
It also is teaching you the fundamentals of email copywriting.
So you know what an ‘Educational/Nurturing' email looks like, let’s delve into the others…
‘News’
Pretty self explanatory, we basically use these emails to talk about new things in the industry or our life - these can be powerful for positioning yourself as an expert.
‘Feedback’
‘Hey, just a quick question..’ Use these types of emails to engage your audience, encourage them to reply to your emails.
This also helps with your list engagement from a technical perspective, Google & Outlook like it when a user responds to your email marketing.
‘Sales’
We all hate being sold to, but it pays the bills.
Nobody likes to be sold - But everyone likes to buy things. Read that again. @lethalcopymike
Use these emails to push your products and services.
There is nothing wrong with selling, just make sure you are actually providing value first.
So that is the four TYPES of email, now I have my type, what do I write?
This is surprisingly cheeky.
What I do is a bit sneaky…
I actually look at my competition.
I check out what they’re talking about and what posts are getting the most engagement on their profiles.
Then I re-write the topics through my own voice and VIOLA!
I have my post topic!
Now this isn’t plagiarism, because I am taking inspiration from their content.
As long as I am writing in my own voice and my own take on the subject, it’s effectively an original piece of writing.
Plug that into one of the four email types that we spoke about earlier and you have yourself at least 4 emails that you can write and use for your list.
Easy right!?
Just don’t send them all at once, space them out.
So there you have it.
An easy way to quickly sit down and write your posts, emails or social media messages.
I know this was super valuable, but I’d love to know if you have any more questions!
Just reply to this post with a comment and I will get back to you within a day.
Speak soon, catch you on social media.
Cheers,
Mike.
